The HCG Diet
Regardless of which hCG drops you buy, in order to lose 1-2 pounds of fat a day on hCG it is important that you carefully follow Dr. Simeons' Original 500 Calorie hCG diet. Many companies suggest increasing your calorie intake to 1,200 or adding in foods that are not part of Dr. Simeons' original manuscript, but this will hinder your weight loss results. By eating the carefully selected foods in the hCG diet combined with hCG drops, you are getting the nutrients you need along with the fat calories your body requires. Eating foods that are not on this list or eating more than the allotted amount of food per day will reduce your weight loss or even cause you to gain weight.
CAUTION: DO NOT ATTEMPT THE HCG DIET WITHOUT HCG DROPS. EATING 500 CALORIES A DAY WITHOUT HCG IS UNHEALTHY AND MAY CAUSE YOUR METABOLISM TO SHUT DOWN. THIS LOW-CALORIE DIET IS ONLY EFFECTIVE BECAUSE YOUR BODY IS BURNING OFF FAT CALORIES FOR YOUR BODY TO USE.
Phase 1 — 2 Days
3 Times per Day: Place 10-12 drops under your tongue and hold for 60 seconds before swallowing the remaining liquid. Do not eat or drink anything 10 minutes before or after taking the drops.
The first phase of the hCG diet requires you to gorge and eat as many calories as you can while beginning your hCG drops. This allows the body to properly absorb the hCG and also ensures your body has easily accessible fat during the low-calorie portion of the diet (phase 2). Recommended foods include butter, cream, cake, fudge, bread, pork and peanut butter.
Phase 2 — 21 or 40 Days
The second phase of the diet is the low-calorie portion of the diet and will last 21 or 40 days depending on how much weight you have to lose. During this time you should be losing ½-3 pounds a day with most individuals losing 1-2 pounds.
- 21 Day Protocol: Stay on the diet for 21 days if you have 15-20 pounds to lose.
- 40 Day Protocol: Perform the diet for 40 days if you have 20 or more pounds to lose.
- If you do not reach your desired weight after 40 days you need to take a 3 week break before resuming the diet.
IF YOU ARE FOLLOWING THE 40 DAY PROTOCOL IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU ONLY TAKE YOUR HCG DROPS 6 DAYS OUT OF THE WEEK. YOU SHOULD CONTINUE THE DIET DURING THE 7TH DAY, BUT DO NOT TAKE THE DROPS. THIS GUARANTEES YOUR BODY WILL NOT DEVELOP IMMUNITY TO THE HCG.
Take 10-12 drops 3 times per day. Hold the drops under the tongue for 60 seconds before swallowing. Do not eat or drink for 10 minutes before or 10 minutes after taking the drops. The best way to perform the diet is to skip breakfast and consume 1 of each of the food items on the list for lunch and 1 of each of the food items for dinner. You are allowed 2 proteins a day, 2 vegetables a day, 2 fruits a day and 2 bread servings a day (only Melba Toast or Grissini Breadsticks). Do not use any products on the skin that contain oil.
Proteins — Two 100 Gram Servings a Day
VEGETARIANS CAN SUBSTITUTE 8 OUNCES OF MILK, ½ CUP OF COTTAGE CHEESE OR ½ CUP OF NON-FAT PLAIN YOGURT AS THEIR PROTEIN.

Preparation: Cut off all fat before cooking and do not use any oil, butter, sugar, etc. Do not consume the same protein for both lunch and dinner.
Vegetables — 2 Servings a Day
Note: Dr. Simeons' original protocol is not specific about serving portions. One serving is approximately 2 cups of green salad, ½ cabbage, 1 cucumber, 1 tomato or 1 onion. DO NOT MIX VEGETABLES.
Bread — 2 Servings a Day
- 1 slice of Melba Toast
- 1 Grissini Breakstick
- NO EXCEPTIONS
Fruit — 2 Servings a Day
- 1 Apple
- 1 Orange
- 1 Handful of Strawberries
- ½ Grapefruit
Beverages and Seasonings — UNLIMITED
Consume at least 2 liters of fluid each day.
- Black Coffee
- Tea (from a teabag)
- Water (preferably distilled)
- Sparkling Water (mineral)
- Stevia and Saccharin ONLY (no Splenda or other artificial sweeteners)
- You can use any spices that do not contain sugar.
- Gum made with xylitol (no other gums are allowed).
Phase 3 — 21 Days
Now that you have reached your desired weight, you should stop using your hCG drops. During Phase 3, you should avoid all sugar and starch but slowly increase your calorie intake and add foods back into your diet one at a time.
After your hCG diet is completed, you need to continue to weigh yourself each morning. If you ever gain 2 lbs or more you need to perform a steak day.
Steak Day: Do not eat or drink anything throughout the day except for water. Eat a large steak for dinner, and later on that night you may have either an apple or a tomato. The next morning you should be back down to your lowest achieved weight.
